Viral Immunology is organizing a critical special issue on recent advances in understanding host immunity and vaccination against Flavivirus infection. Flaviviruses are a group of single-stranded, positive-sense RNA viruses. The genus includes many emerging and reemerging mosquito or tick- borne human pathogens, such as dengue virus (DENV), Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV), West Nile virus (WNV), yellow fever virus (YFV), and Zika virus (ZIKV). Flavivirus infection can cause a wide variety of clinical manifestations and complications in humans ranging from undifferentiated fever, hemorrhagic fever, microcephaly, encephalitis and death.

The Guest Editor encourages the submission of original research and review papers on topics including but not limited to:

  • Immunity to Acute and Chronic Flavivirus Infection
  • Pathogenesis of neurotropic Flavivirus infection
  • Role of cross reactive Dengue virus- specific immunity in Zika virus pathogenesis
  • Zika virus vaccine development
  • Vector immunity in Flavivirus infection
  • Type I and III Interferon responses to Flavivirus infection
  • Memory T cell response to Yellow Fever virus vaccination

Benefits of publishing include:

  • Rapid, high-quality peer review
  • Open Access options available
  • Fast and user-friendly electronic submission
  • Maximum exposure: accessible in 170 countries worldwide
  • Competitive author benefits packages

We look forward to your submissions, and participation in the Journal!
