Special Issue on Practical Applications of Bioelectricity

Bioelectricity is very pleased to announce our upcoming special issue on Practical Applications of Bioelectricity, Guest Edited by Dr. Richard Nuccitelli of Pulse Biosciences, Inc.

Every cell in our bodies uses bioelectricity in its daily function. Each cell generates all of its ATP using bioelectricity through the electrochemical gradient across our mitochondria inner membranes and all of our senses rely on electrical signals to both detect and convey the sensory information to our brain. Therefore, it should not be a surprise to learn that our bodies can respond to imposed bioelectric signals in ways that can be beneficial. Yet many practical applications of bioelectricity are not obvious or widely known. This special issue will illustrate some of these that are used daily to our benefit.

We invite you to submit original research contributions using any practical application of bioelectricity.

Bioelectricity will consider articles from the full breadth of evidence: from original research papers and reviews, to perspectives, profiles, commentaries, and exemplary front matter. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Electroporation: Clinical monotherapy for pancreas, prostate, liver, and cardiovascular systems; combinatorial treatment strategy for cancer
• Uses of bioelectricity in focal ablation therapies: Clinical niche; mechanisms and limitations
• Limitations of practical applications of bioelectricity: Joule heating; nerve excitation
• Using bioelectricity to stimulate regeneration
• Using bioelectricity for diagnosis of disease
