New Rochelle, NY, October 17, 2016 - Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers is pleased to announce that Ana Núñez, MD has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of Health Equity. Dr. Núñez is a Professor of Medicine; Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Director of the National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health and Women’s Health Education Program at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We are pleased to welcome Dr. Núñez and launch Health Equity with her expert leadership.

Health Equity is a new, peer reviewed, open access journal that will serve as a primary resource for organizations and individuals who serve vulnerable populations at the community, state, regional, tribal, and national levels. The Journal will be a critical and timely source of information for physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers; policymakers; psychologists and social workers; educators; and researchers; among others.

Health Equity is supported by a generous grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to ensure that it is accessible as widely as possible.
Dr. Núñez is a nationally recognized medical education and health services researcher. She has developed novel curriculum across the health professional training spectrum. In her role of Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Dr. Núñez is responsible for organizational change that promotes excellence in education, research, and patient care. She fosters collaboration of researchers, educators and community members as they discover critically needed health disparity solutions. Dr. Núñez created the Philadelphia Ujima model and network with faith-based and social service agencies. Additionally, Dr. Núñez is a practicing internist in Center City, Philadelphia.

“I am delighted to spearhead this innovative journal,” says Dr. Núñez. “We seek to have a collaborative, inter and transdisciplinary space that addresses practical interventions which will ultimately enhance the lives of patients and collectively aid in the discourse promoting health equity.”

Health Equity will be supported by an outstanding team of Associate Editors including Francisco Garcia, MD, University of Arizona; Thanakorn Jirasevijinda, MD, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center; Mary Kimmel, MD, University of North Carolina; Charles P.
