New Rochelle, NY, April 14, 2021Industrial Biotechnology (IB) is extremely excited to announce that the Alternative Fuels & Chemicals Coalition (AFCC) has named IB its Official Journal. The Alternative Fuels & Chemicals Coalition (“AFCC”) advocates for public policies in the biobased economy that promote the development and production of alternative fuels, renewable chemicals which includes bioplastics, biobased products, and sustainable aviation fuels. Its goal is to stimulate innovation, support R&D, and speed commercialization and adoption.

“Our partnership with AFCC expands our network of innovators who are leveraging industrial biotechnology for the global bioeconomy,” says Larry P. Walker, PhD, Co-Editor-in-Chief of Industrial Biotechnology.

“AFCC, in its unique partnership with Mary Ann Liebert, will raise awareness through Industrial Biotechnology in building the biobased economy using smart climate practices in agriculture for the production of flavors and fragrances, alternative fuels, sustainable aviation fuels, renewable chemicals which includes bioplastics, biomaterials, biobased products, food ingredients and additives, alternative proteins, and enzymes,” says Rina Singh, PhD, AFCC Executive Vice President, Policy. “AFCC looks forward to the scientific emphasis the Journal will provide on environmental benefits from microbial conversion technologies and emerging technologies from variety of feedstocks building sustainable supply chains."

Industrial Biotechnology is a remarkably important source of information and dialogue for expanding a global bio-based economy, especially now as the world responds to the challenges posed by climate change,” says Paul Zorner, PhD, Chairman, AFCC Governing Board of Directors. “The AFCC is honored that the Journal has chosen to partner with us to advance open discourse on science, policy and the business of industrial biotechnology - and the impact it contributes to achieving global sustainability.”

Dr. Walker and the leadership of Industrial Biotechnology (IB) look forward to working even more closely with the AFCC to enhance their mission, the Journal, and the field.
