New Rochelle, NY, December 16, 2015—How to leverage the transformational power of technology to improve healthcare in the U.S.—and bring the cool, tech-savvy culture of innovation to the healthcare industry—is the focus of an enlightening new interview with Aneesh Chopra. The conversation with Aneesh Chopra, America's first CTO and Co-founder and EVP of Hunch Analytics, appears in the premier issue of the new peer-reviewed, open access journalzine Healthcare Transformation from Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers. The article is available to download on the Healthcare Transformation website.

In “Catalysts for Change: A Conversation with America's First CTO,” Healthcare Transformation Editor-in-Chief Stephen Klasko, MD, MBA, President, Thomas Jefferson University (TJU) and CEO Jefferson Health (Philadelphia, PA), and Associate Editor Neil Gomes, MMS/MBA, MEd, Vice President, Technology Innovation and Consumer Experience, TJU and Jefferson Health, ask Mr. Chopra to describe the goals and challenges of transitioning healthcare toward becoming a more innovative industry and being able to use technology, in essence, to cure itself.

In addition to investing in new technology and new systems, “...we have to begin investing in-house,” says Mr. Chopra. “We have to change the DNA of healthcare one doctor at a time.... Most of us do not even understand the language of the new consumerism and technology platforms. We have to invest the dollars not only in innovation and technology, but also in communication and leadership.”

In the interview, he describes the work underway at the Hunch Analytics start-up company NavHealth. Mining data sets to collect information that can help healthcare providers understand what happens to their patients before and after they treat them can improve overall coordination and continuity of care and, over time, identify better pathways for care.
