New Rochelle, NY, August 20, 2015—Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers is pleased to announce that Dr. Charles Yeo, MD, FACS, has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of Case Reports in Pancreatic Cancer. Dr. Yeo is the Samuel D. Gross Professor and chair of the Department of Surgery at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals. We are pleased to welcome Dr. Yeo and launch Case Reports in Pancreatic Cancer with his expert guidance.
Dr. Yeo graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, being awarded the Upjohn Achievement Award, and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Yeo directed the Pancreatic Cancer Interdisciplinary Working Group at Johns Hopkins, and served as the Surgical Clerkship Coordinator and Surgical Curriculum Consultant. In 2002, Dr. Yeo was named to an endowed chair at Johns Hopkins, becoming the inaugural John L. Cameron M.D. Professor for Alimentary Tract Diseases.
Dr. Yeo’s primary interests and research have been in the fields of hepatopancreaticobiliary surgery—the evaluation of patients with pancreatic cancer, the management of patients with unusual pancreatic neoplasms, as well as acute or chronic pancreatitis. He has personally performed over 1,300 Whipple procedures, and cared for over 2,100 patients with pancreatic tumors. Additionally, his leadership of large teams of physicians and scientists dedicated to a better understanding of pancreatic neoplasia has generated a plethora of new knowledge relevant to the early detection, screening, categorization, and therapy of pancreatic and related types of cancer.
Case Reports in Pancreatic Cancer will publish authoritative case reports on all aspects of pancreatic cancer diagnosis, management, treatment, and outcomes. The Journal will be the premier open access venue for clinical reports on the disease, and will publish under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY) license to ensure broad dissemination and participation.
“Pancreatic cancer is predicated to be the number 2 cause of cancer death in the U.S. by 2020,” says Dr. Yeo. “There will certainly be great interest in this journal, as many very important observations, submitted as case reports to other journals, fail to get published.”
Dr. Yeo will take editorship immediately and begin developing the Journal to launch in Fall of 2015.
For information on manuscript submission, please visit the Case Reports in Pancreatic Cancer website.
