Signing in

Atypon CONNECT

Beginning October 2021, we replaced our existing registration and sign in process with CONNECT by Atypon Systems, a simple and secure approach to accessing your account whether you’re an individual or institutional user.

This switch to CONNECT didn’t change your existing login credentials in any way, nor did it affect any of your account details.

To sign in, click the account icon ("Sign In/Register") in the upper right corner of the site. Enter your email and press "Continue."

On the next page, enter your password and click “Sign In” to complete the process.

Once logged in, choose “Profile” from the “Sign in/Register” submenu.

Your account will appear and function as it did before the change to CONNECT with enhancements provided by your new CONNECT account visible in a box at the top of your “Personal Details” page.

For more about the benefits and features of CONNECT see the next section.

Benefits of an account

Creating an account is free and is required for accessing personal subscriptions or administering an institutional subscription.

In addition, many features are available to registered users only including free registration for Table of Contents e-mail alerts, citation tracking, saved searches, and more.

Managing your account with CONNECT means a single ID offers article access from anywhere without repetitive logins. Reuse your account to access other scholarly publishing websites and applications.

How to Obtain Usage Data

Click the Institutional administration tab of your Profile, then select the Usage Data tab.

In the section entitled Cumulative Page Access Report, use the dropdown menus to select report Type and Year.

In the Format section, you can then choose how you will view the report. To view the report in your browser, choose HTML table. Select Tab delimited text file to download a spreadsheet-readable file to your local hard disk. Alternatively, you may have the system Email the report to the email address you enter in the available field (usually your own email address). After making your choice, click Get Report.

COUNTER Compliance

Being COUNTER compliant means that the method of measuring and reporting of usage statistics meets the standards set by the COUNTER Code of Practice.

Browsers supported

Current versions of Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, and Opera are all supported. We recommend Firefox (available as a free download) as the fastest and most stable browser when accessing this site.

Adding and Updating IP Addresses

End users can be authenticated as organization members based on their IP address. If an IP address is associated with an organization, end users who access the website from that IP address are given access to the organization’s licensed content. Administrators can manage the IP addresses associated with their organization through their user account.

Downloadable Holdings File

Use this report, which has no parameters, to obtain information about your journal and book holdings.

Text And Data Mining (TDM)

TDM Policy

Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers allows for text and data mining by authorized users via the web crawlers of subscribing Institutions for non-commercial use only. Authorized users include current members of the faculty, staff, and individuals enrolled at a subscribing institution, who are permitted to access the institution's secure network and who have been issued a password or other authentication by the Licensee.

TDM Methods

To mine the full-XML for articles, books, or chapters, a subscribing institution’s web crawler must be licensed with Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers. Contact your Institutional Administrator to start this process.

The following steps will be taken to grant a subscribing institution's web crawler to access full-XML (where available) for all the institution's licensed content:

  1. The creation of a web crawler identity
  2. The addition of the web crawler identity as a member of the institution so that it will inherit all its licenses.

Using the web crawler identity method rather than accessing the content via the institution's IP range unannounced will ensure that the TDM does not count towards the institution's regular usage statistics or trigger abuse monitoring blockage.

Is there a recommended web crawler throttling rate?

Yes. We recommend the following web crawler throttling rates:

  • Regular Rate - the crawl is (not to exceed) 1 request every 6 seconds
    • Monday through Friday: From Midnight - Noon in the "America/Los_Angeles" timezone
  • Fast Rate - the crawl is (not to exceed) 1 request every 2 seconds
    • Monday through Friday: From Noon - Midnight in the "America/Los_Angeles" timezone Saturday through Sunday: All day
