Aims & Scope

Tissue Engineering is the preeminent, biomedical journal advancing the field with cutting-edge research and applications that repair or regenerate portions or whole tissues. This multidisciplinary journal brings together the principles of engineering and life sciences in the creation of artificial tissues and regenerative medicine. Tissue Engineering is divided into three parts, providing a central forum for groundbreaking scientific research and developments of clinical applications from leading experts in the field that will enable the functional replacement of tissues.

Tissue Engineering, Part A: Research Advances

Tissue Engineering, Part A: Research Advances serves as the authoritative peer-reviewed biomedical journal advancing the field with cutting-edge hypothesis-driven research focused on tissue repair or regeneration. This multidisciplinary journal brings together the fundamental and applied principles of engineering and life sciences in the creation of artificial tissues and regenerative medicine.

Tissue Engineering, Part A: Research Advances launched in 1994 and marks the first academic journal devoted to covering the field of tissue engineering. The journal has served as a central forum for groundbreaking scientific research and developments of clinical applications from leading experts in the field that will enable the functional replacement of tissues. The journal focuses specifically on the theoretical, computational, and experimental aspects for the development of therapeutic strategies to repair or regenerate tissue and organ function.

The journal provides “instant online” publication of accepted articles within 72 hours of acceptance and publishes 12 double issues online and in print annually. The journal is Green Open Access compliant and supports various options for authors to publish their work under a CC-BY Open Access license.

Complete coverage includes:

  • Basic and clinical advances in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine
  • Novel approaches to regenerative medicine applying controlled/sustained release strategies
