Special Collection on Bioterrorism Research

A bioterrorism attack is the deliberate leak of viruses, bacteria, or other germs with the intention to cause illness or death. These germs are often found in nature and can spread through the air, water, or in food. Some viruses or bacteria can also spread from human to human, animal to animal, or animal to human and vice versa. These viruses or bacteria can be very hard to detect as they usually don't cause illness or show symptoms of illness for several hours or days.
